Jill turned fifty this last week. As a family we decided to throw her a party. I threw together some fun decorations and food, and Brian told everyone about the party. She had no idea it was coming.
We celebrated the night before her birthday because we knew she would not suspect us to do that. I had to hurry home from work (fortunately I got off early!!) and literally ran around putting all the decorations up and getting the food together. Jill walked in when Brett and I put down the LAST cupcake on the platter. Chad, Grandma and Ken all drove down from Utah to be at the party, and they made it just in time to surprise her too. It was amazing we pulled it off, and she really enjoyed it.

The theme we chose was Sound of Music, because it is one of her top movies. Then we highlighted all of her "Favorite Things" (like the song). Brett put Daisies (her favorite flower) all over the house, along with bears that she collects (Jill LOVES bears) to help decorate.
On the entry way table I typed up the lyrics to the song and had it framed along with information about the year she was born. Again we had lots of bears and daisies since she likes them so much....
I spelled out "50" in pictures of Jill with her family and friends.
Throughout the whole house we had brown paper packages tied up with string. Again because of the movie.
Chad modeling in front of one of the many brown paper pennant banners.
Some of the food.
We made food highlighting everything that Jill loves and then labeled each item, so people knew why we had it there. I did not get pictures of everything, but here is what I did get pictures of.
Mickey Mouse Cupcakes
Banana Cream Pie
Peanut Butter Cookies
Then we had tea to drink with jam and bread (above)
We also had Diet Coke, lemon bars, and a ton of fruit and vegetables.
Now onto the few pictures I got of people...
Grandma Burton, Carolyn and Aunt June.
Brett trying to get Hunter to take a decent picture.
How could I forget Mr. Creamy?
Grandma and Ken
Because of Great Grandpa Morgan's death, we had to put Jill's big gift on hold, but I will post about that when we get it later.
Happy Birthday 50th Jill! We hope you enjoyed your day.
