Summer Projects

My free time this summer is dwindling down.  Between picking up extra days at work, vacation time with family and friends, this is my last week of down time for awhile. I had some indoor projects I have been working on and I had to knock them all out before things get more crazy. So for those who have asked for pictures, here are a few, although please forgive the unfinished chair.

This beauty was a $20 find at a local thrift store and I couldn't pass it up. It was seriously nasty, but I knew it had potential so it came home with us. I found a sticky lifesaver on it and gagged so bad. We will be washing  the cushions at a laundromat before I use it as a template for the new cushions.... those things are not touching my washer! haha

After sanding and painting. Brett is at Young Men's right now but said he will put the base back together tonight.  I have in mind what fabric I want for the cushions, lets just see if I can find it and have it be within my budget.
Can you spy Lucy? She loves being with me in the basement while I work on my projects during the day because it is much cooler down there.

This is the dresser I re-painted. I wanted a particular size of dresser and had a hard time finding one I liked. I found one on craigslist but the woman had painted the drawers and mirror green. I wasn't really loving that, so I repainted them to match. While we moved it though the top got scratched up really bad so I ended up having to repaint the top as well. The hardware I spray painted with a oil rubbed bronze look.  I wanted a long dresser like this for the spare room because a friend of mine uses it as a dresser/changing table. No that is not an announcement of any kind, just thinking ahead. :)

Last but not least, here is the night stand I painted to match the dresser. This was given to us by Brett's mom when we were first married because it was a leftover from a garage sale (ie free!). The reason I was so picky in my dresser is I wanted it to match the nightstand and the lines on top of them most definitely do.
The night stand had a huge chunk taken out of it so I had to learn how to fill it and sand it to match which was kind of an adventure.

All in all it wasn't too bad. I can see my mistakes (of course) but for a first time painting furniture I am pretty pleased. Thank goodness Brett's aunt lent me her power sander! haha

You're so brave to take on those projects! I would love to do something like that, I'm just afraid that I'll end up ruining it. Haha. But yours turned out great! Way to go!
