We have been married a year! Actually over a year now since I am so slow to post about it. To celebrate we drove to Yellowstone and it was my first time. Brett knows the ropes around Yellowstone and he took me to all the highlights. I got a little picture happy so here are some of my favorites. Like the title says, this will be a LONG post.
Hot Springs
Hot Springs

It was interesting reading about the different hot pools and how they work. That orange substance is actually thermophiles or organisms that thrive in hot temperatures. They are also the cause of the rotten egg smell we could not seem to get enough of at each and every pool.

On to more hot springs!

Getting a little cold. This was after our fun Old Faithful adventure

I warned you I was picture happy!
Old Faithful
I enjoyed watching Old Faithful but to be honest the conditions to see it were less then perfect. All weekend it was supposed to be great weather, but ironically when we chose to stand outside for 30 minutes to watch Old Faithful we were caught in a very big Thunder and Lighting Storm. It was freezing and pouring buckets. We were laughing pretty hard when we got back in the car, but that was until "the incident"....

Brett's sweatshirt was completely soaked through.
The "Incident"
We decided to pack our own lunches for the first day but that proved to be a mistake. We had accidentally grabbed what was expired mayonnaise. I do not use mayo so I was safe but Brett on the other hand got sick, VERY sick.... So given that Brett got food poisoning the first day, we only saw a little bit of the park. We were able to get a close hotel so that day two we could see the rest of the park and it was quite a long day.
Tower Falls
You can no longer hike behind the falls, but Brett said when he was younger they used to have a hike available where you would go behind the water fall. I was sad to see that hike is no longer there, but it was still a pretty view!
When we drove out of Tower falls we passed through a beautiful area where these huge rocks were on one side and a view over the falls was on the other.

Grand Canyon of Yellowstone
We hiked to the lower falls of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and it was awesome. It was one of our favorite parts. However, both of us are scared of heights so we stayed a distance from the edge.
Here is Brett with the Upper Falls in the distance. This was the start of our little hike.

Here are the Tetons. We drove by Jennie Lake and the Tetons on the way to visit Jackson and it was such a great view!

We do not have our Jackson Hole pictures as of now so I will just have to post them later as well as graduation and Oregon pictures. As for the break, it is so nice to relax! Is this what it feels like when you are done with school? We can only hope....
